What goes with Whisky?
Unpeated blended Scotch at about forty percent alcohol is a concentrated aromatic seasoning with very little inherent sugar. Malt, orchard fruit, vanilla-like oak and toasted cereal impressions can suggest sweetness without providing a syrup’s body. The liquid contains no cream or fat. Peated whisky and bourbon bring substantially different smoke, grain and oak balances and require separate decisions about dose.

Pairing principles
What pairs well with Whisky?
Treat whisky as a seasoning whose dose depends on temperature, fat and portion size. Cream, honey and cereal provide familiar foundations, while a savoury construction needs enough roasted or fermented depth to carry the oak. Fresh acidity can lighten a drink or dessert but should not exaggerate bitterness. Avoid assuming a stronger or smokier whisky will create a more balanced result.
